Homework:
1) Read to meet your book club goal for Friday!
2) Write poetry for Karma's Take Five! Register for crazy classes at UNC Splash!

Big Idea: Relationships support success
Essential Question: Where am I going?
Objectives: I can...
...set and meet a ten-minute goal.
...match college terms with their definitions.
...ask and answer clarifying questions.
*****************************
1) Warm Up: Ten Minutes for YOU! (10 min)
- Make sure your TRF is done. Place this on the edge of your table.
- Option 1: Work on your game design or self-designed project.
- Option 2: Read to meet your book club goal on Friday.
2) Literacy Block: College Term Match (10 min)
- Go to the link here.
- Take 5 minutes to read the terms. A few notes: "W" will be slightly different in each school, it means you withdrew from a class after starting it. I do not think NC has "TSI" assessments. Pay attention to what a blue book and scantron are - a lot of colleges sell them in packs you can share with friends for exams.
- Choose to play the matching game or the gravity game so you get fluent at using these college terms!
3) Tutorial Time
- Before Tutorials (5 min):
- Take out your notes and assignments that are relevant to your TRF.
- Add HOT questions and summarize your notes.
- Consider tabbing the important pages so you can refer to your notes during Tutorials.
- Break into groups of 4-7.
- Gather boards and markers.
- During the Tutorial (until 5 min from the end of class):
- Share your concept ratings to choose who will begin.
- The presenter shares a 30 second speech and writes what he or she knows on the board.
- Classmates begin asking questions and one group member takes notes for the presenter. All members take notes.
- The presenter and group mates note questions and notes on their three column notes.
- When the presenter gets it, ask him or her how he or she would explain the concept to a confused friend.
- Ask more clarifying questions as needed.
- After the Tutorial:
- Work on homework for the class your Tutorial was on.
- Read to meet your book club goal.
- Write a reflection in 4 sentences that responds to the following questions: What question was the most helpful to you and why? Do you think your questions are helpful? Why or why not? What questions do you need to go back and ask your teacher? How do tutorials relate to how you study and take tests?
