So many things! 28 October 2016 Movies in the Park at Depot Park, 106 Charlotte Ave, Sanford NC When: 5p What: The Central Carolina Jaycees, Downtown Sanford, Inc and the Lee County Partnership for Children are teaming up again to offer free, family-friendly movies. The Lee County Partnership for Children will offer activities for kids to do while waiting for the movie to start (craft, obstacle course, reading area, etc.) and the Central Carolina Jaycees have concessions available for purchase. The movie for this week is The Force Awakens. Glow Party at Sanford Latin Dance, 109 S. Steele St, Sanford NC When: 6-7:30p What: Come in costume for a night of fun. Cost is $10 for non-members or $5 for members. Open Studio at the ArtStudio, 102 S. Steele St, Sanford NC When: 6-9p What: Open studio allows artists ages 14+ to work on projects within a creative community. Artists work on projects of their choosing and are welcome to bring their own materials and works in progress. Arrive and leave as your schedule allows. The cost is $25 per class. CARA’s Haunted House at 217 N. Gulf St, Sanford NC When: 7-9p What: Walk through this haunted house located in downtown Sanford for $3 per person. The event benefits Carolina Animal Rescue & Adoption. Children should be accompanied by an adult. “Tuesdays with Morrie” at the Temple Theatre, 120 Carthage St, Sanford NC When: 8p What: See a production of the award-winning book. Events at Karma Coffee in Downtown Sanford First Thursday Take 5 Poetry and Prose Open Mic First Thursday of every month! Enjoy the sharing of original poetry & prose in blocks lasting up to five minutes each! Sign up for open mic begins at 5:30 PM. Writers age 15 and under are encouraged to share their original works from 6-6:15 PM. Works containing adult language or mature themes may be shared after 6:15 PM. You know you deserve to Take 5! So come out, share your work, or just listen and enjoy a great time! Jack-o-Lantern Trail Nightly from Oct 24-31 Pile the family in the car and come Downtown for our Inaugural Jack-o'-Lantern Trail. Participating businesses will carve, decorate and display their spooky pumpkin creations in their storefront windows for all to enjoy!

What could be better than handmade gifts for friends and family for the holidays? Artist Bio: Ryan Fox is a photographer and watercolor artist living and working in Raleigh, NC. Fox has exhibited work throughout the Southeast and beyond, including at the Carlisle Arts Learning Center, Carlisle, PA; the Redfield Estate at The Grove in Glenview, Illinois; the San Diego Watercolor Society, San Diego, CA; and the American Watercolor Society, New York, NY. 2017 Teens, Inspired Exhibition Teens, Inspired is an annual arts competition and exhibition for high school students hosted by the North Carolina Museum of Art that is organized, juried, and curated by teens and for teens. The NCMA requests submissions of poems, 2-D and 3-D works of art, and video art. Artists are also required to include an artist statement. Students must use a work of art from the Museum’s collection to inspire your own poem or artwork, as opposed to copying a particular piece. The deadline for Teens, Inspired is February 17, 2017. High school students do not have to be enrolled in an art or writing class to submit! Submission requirements: All submissions must include: A. Final work of art or poem inspired by a piece in the NCMA collection. Poetry Requirements: must not exceed 16 lines of text (these restrictions are due to the size of the labels they will be printed on.). 2-D Requirements: must not exceed 30 x 24 inches; can be in any medium. 3-D Requirements: must not exceed 24 x 24 x 8 (h x w x d) inches; must be a stable/nonperishable medium. Video Requirements: must be between 30 seconds and 3 minutes in length. B.
