1) Warm Up: Book Club Selections (25 min)
- Ordinary World: On card stock, draw or describe what you do while you read. List when you enjoy and when you dislike reading. Put this in your front binder pocket. (5 min)
- Call to Adventure:
- Choose your group and book.
- Pick your role for your book club group using the link here.
- Read for 15 minutes. Find the average pages read in your group. Multiply this by 4 (assuming you will read 15 minutes, 4 times per week).
- Write out your page goals in your book club contract.
- Set your table up like you will on our Family Fair Night.
- Draw a slip of paper to show you what round you will be presenting in.
- Visit other tables.
- After doing each activity, record a plus and delta on that group's feedback log. (page 4)
- Present your own activity.
- Discuss with your group how you will use the feedback from your classmates and your own observations to improve your activity next week.
- Complete your speech pre-writing.
- Fill out one packet per group. I expect to see each member's hand writing on your paper!
- Use the information from your research packets.
- Once you finish, write your speech.
- Final speeches are due on Monday, 24 October.
- Time Permitting: Free time!
