Essential Question: How can I use grammar and text structures to convey ideas?

...talk about grammar and math topics on the Accuplacer.
...determine my specific areas of confusion.
...create a news article.

1) Warm Up: Thirty Second Sales (10 min)
  1. Take out your Accuplacer materials. 
  2. On your index card write something covered on the Accuplacer. (example: commas; non-example: Correct the sentence, "Ms. Nickel likes chocolate more than Ms. Sawyer.")
  3. Add this to the tin.
  4. When you get the tin, draw a card and sell your item!
2) Accuplacer Prep (30 min)
  1. Set a SMART goal for 10 minutes of work.
  2. Work.
  3. Self-evaluate and post your goal. 
  4. Note tough questions, what you know, and your specific questions. Bring this with you to Reading tomorrow.

  • Use Grammar Bytes for interactive exercises and clear explanations!
  • Use the resource here to understand how writing is laid out.
3) Project for Ms. Sawyer (Til the end of class)
  1. You have 30 minutes to work on your project. Here is the assignment.
  2. Take 5 minutes to write SPECIFIC DWCs as comments in your Google Doc.
  3. Peer evaluate for 10 minutes.
