Happy Thursday AVID Team!

Big Idea: Systems
Essential Question: What systems can we use for success?
Objectives: I can...

1) Warm Up: Peer Evaluation Time (10 minutes)

  1. Use the checklist provided to evaluate a peer's Cornell notes and binder.
  2. Write your person a sticky note with a plus and delta for Cornell notes and binder organization. (4 things total!)
  3. Revise!

  1. Open your Success paragraph.
  2. Switch computers with a neighbor.
  3. Fill out the TPEQEA rubric.
  4. In the comments box, add a plus and delta for the paragraph overall.
  5. Revise your paragraph.
  6. Share it with me and comment "Ms. Nickel, I'm done!"
4) Tutorial Time! (35 minutes)
  1.  Before the Tutorial:
    1. Fill out your TRF.
    2. Find relevant notes.
    3. Break into content specific groups.
    4. Get a whiteboard and markers.
    5. Decide who will be the student moderator (times speeches, buzzes at answer-giving questions).
  2. During the Tutorial:
    1. Start each POC presentation with a 30 second speech.
      1. "My point of confusion is... Here's what I know...I get stuck when...Please help me!"
    2. Take notes on each person's POC.
    3. Ask guiding questions. Use your cheat sheet!
  3. After the Tutorial:
    1. Complete the reflection.
    2. Work on homework for the class you are confused about.
    3. Stuck? Ask questions!
5) Exit Ticket: Work in groups to create a poster showing the Tutorial Process. I'll use these to train our upperclassmen tutors! Base this off of your "Tutorial Steps" sheet (#8 in your TOC).
