Big Idea: Structures for student support, Cultivating relationships
Essential Question: How can teaching my parents about the structures used at LEC help me be successful?

...define and set a SMART goal.
...display mathematical data in different formats.
...demonstrate mastery of strategies for success that I’ve learned at LEC so far.

1) Warm Up:
  1. Write the meaning of each letter in SMART goal (Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound).
  2. Write a SMART goal about school.
  3. Have a neighbor evaluate the SMARTness of your goal.
  4. Revise.
2) Literacy Block: The Whole Picture - Ways to Represent Data

  1. Read through the directions of "The Whole Picture" sheet.
  2. Go through a sample problem.
    1. f(x) = 20 + 5x
  3. Then, complete the back of the sheet for Representation 1.
  4. Add the sheet to your TOC.
3) Lesson Plan: Parent Night Planning! (1:45-1:50)
  1. Check to see which committee you are in.
  2. Go to the teacher's room overseeing your committee.
    1. Mrs. Cunkelman: Video Showcase Committee
    2. Mrs. Testa: Hospitality Committee
    3. Mrs. Kitchens: Translators Committee, Order of Events Committee
    4. Ms. Nickel: Student Discussion Leaders Committee, Babysitting Committee
  3. Find the correct folder in the Parent Night folder and begin working through your group's check list.
4) Success Workshop: Organize your time! (2:25-2:42)
  1. List all upcoming assignments, their due dates, and how long you think each will take.
  2. Decide when you will do each task.
  3. Start working!
5) Exit Ticket: Share something awesome your group accomplished or something awesome from this week!
