Big Idea: Structures for student support, Cultivating relationships

...revise my AVID notes.
...choose a role for planning AVID Parent Night.
...demonstrate mastery of strategies for success that I’ve learned at LEC so far....set and meet goals.

1) Warm Up: (10 minutes)
- Add HOT questions and summaries to two pages of your notes from AVID.
- If you finish early, respond to the prompt: What would you do if the zombie apocalypse really was happening and it started while you were at LEC?
2) Literacy Block: Educating parents about education
- Before you read: What do your parents think school is like for you? List at least five misconceptions they might have about your education.
- While you read: Partner read and annotate using diigo.
- Define methodology, pedagogy, and philosophy in a sticky note.
- Highlight claims in blue.
- Highlight changes in education in green.
- Highlight interesting facts in yellow.
- Summarize what schools should be doing to educate parents in a sticky note.
- Highlight strategies LEC is already using in pink.
- After you read: If you were going to teach your parents about LEC, what would you want them to know?
3) Parent Night Planning

4) SMART Success Workshop
- Create a list of SMART goals (make sure to give each a time limit) for the rest of the period. What will you accomplish?
- You must meet with me to show me your ORGANIZED binder! Let me know when you are ready to have me check it!
- Options for SMART goals:
- Organize your binder by putting everything in rings in the right section and adding on to your TOCs.
- Revise and reflect on Cornell notes by adding HOT questions and summaries.
- Complete missing work or revisions for any class.
- Work on homework.
