1) Warm Up: What is there to celebrate? (7 min)
  1. Read and respond to the prompt below.
  2. Write at until you reach the second hole on your paper, then keep writing in lists and doodling.

2) Literacy Block: Top 15 Goal Setting Quotes (20 min)
  1. Before you read:
    1. Image result for goal setting
    2. Talk to a neighbor and come up with a simile similar to the one below:
      1. Life without goals is like an archer without a target.
      2. Life without goals is like ______________.
    3. Share your simile with the class.
  2. While you partner read, pause and summarize each paragraph. Skim through the quotes.
  3. After you read, turn your favorite quote into a bookmark or sticky note for your computer.

4) Success Workshop/Closure: Log In Check and SMART Set Up (Until the end of class)
  1. Check that you can log in to your Cougarmail account and Blackboard. (Go to Login at the top right here.)
  2. If you cannot log in, add your information to the document here.
  3. Fill in your planner with due dates and events for the week. Write a SMART goal at the top of your planner for the week.
  4. Time Remaining? Work on your homework, read quietly, or keep working on your identity tree.
