How can I succeed in school this semester? (Day 7) Daily Plans: Friday, 20 January

Big Idea: Structures provide organization
Essential Question: How can I succeed in school this semester?
Objectives: I can...
...set and meet a short-term personal goal.
...practice public speaking in a low-risk way.
...choose how I use my time.

1) Warm Up: Time for YOU (25 min)

  1. Finish your two note revisiting tasks from yesterday if needed (and, add this to your TOC as #6 - "Using the Cornell Process" if you haven't).
  2. Revisit your SMART goal and tasks listed in your planner. 
  3. Choose how you will use your QUIET 20 minutes:
    1. Meet your SMART goal.
    2. Do homework or work on revisions.
    3. Look up a summer opportunity.
      1. Lee County 4-H Summer Camps (These are still the 2016, but if they look interesting, book mark the page!)
      2. Summer Youth Enrichment Series is a program offered by CCCC, consider calling and seeing if they need junior counselors and find out how to apply!
      3. Summer Ventures
      4. Lee County Junior Counselor (ctrl + f "Junior Counselor")
    4. Color or craft quietly.
    5. Read a book or magazine.
    6. Watch a TED talk or listen to a podcast about a topic that interests you!

2) Family Time: Paint Chip Skits (15 minutes)
  1. Choose 4-5 paint chips from the stack.
  2. Create a skit, rap, poem, interpretive dance, etc that incorporates each paint chip name. 
  3. Make sure each group member has a speaking role.
  4. Share your skit.
3) Family Time: Your choice!

  1. The class may vote to go to the library or spend time outside or stay in the room.
  2. Options:
    1. Read
    2. Start your own book club 
    3. Play games
    4. Chat
    5. Work on homework or revisions
    6. Color or craft
