- Continue writing your story from last week (tattooed princess/prince or reader living thousands of lives).
- Make sweet notes/cards to give to friends and family OR to post around the school (stickers and stamps are on the back table).
- Invent your own holiday celebrating your and your friends. When does this holidy fall and why? What are traditional foods and activities that you and your friends will enjoy on this day? Why? Ideas: Draw a scene from the holiday, create shopping lists for relevant celebrations, or write invitations to the event to your friends.
- Share what you wrote via Stand Up-Hand Up-Pair Up. (Or, go post your positive notes around the school.)
2) Literacy Block: Practicing Presentation Skills (20 min)
- Before you read, discuss with your table and share:
- What are some rules people should follow when giving presentations?
- What are some tips you have for formatting a presentation so that it is easy to follow?
- When giving the actually presentation, how can you engage your audience?
- While you read:
- Choose one of the "8 PowerPoints that show you how to make the best presentations" to look through with a classmate.
- List three additional ideas you get from the presentation about formating presentations.
- After you read:
- Share your presentation design tips with the class.
- Look at the sample presentations linked below to help you choose a presentation platform:
- Name any other favorite presentation platforms you have used.
- Open your copy of the Career Research Project document here.
- Look over your work so far. Identify any additional information you need to find before you begin your presentation. Finish this!
- Read what information must go in the presentation.
- List three things that you want your presentation to be (ex: informative, detailed, balanced between text and pictures, more text than pictures, entertaining, creative, etc.).
- Choose your presentation platform.
- Begin creating your presentation. See me for help!
- Take out your planner and add upcoming due dates and events.
- Write your weekly SMART goal!
- Swap goals with a neighbor and then discuss: Do both goals meet all the parts of being a SMART goal?
- Revise your goal as needed.
- Choose how to spend your time:
- Homework
