How can I help build the best education for myself? Daily Plans: Monday, 26 October

Essential Question: How can I help build the best education for myself?
Objectives: I can...
...write creatively.
...self-evaluate my reading skills.
...plan Parent Night.

1) Warm Up: Writing Creatively (5 min + 3 to share)
  1. Choose one of the following to respond to. If you get stuck, write "pumpkin" until you come up with something new to write.
  2. Highlight your two favorite lines.
  3. Share your findings using "Stand Up-Hand Up-Pair Up".


2) Literacy Block: Reading Skills Self-Evaluation
  1. Open the document here and make a copy.
  2. Rename the copy: "Name - Reading Skills Self Eval".
  3. Complete the columns marked 10/26.
  4. Then, read through your tasks for the next two days and ask questions if needed.
3) Lesson Plan: Parent Night Planning Day 1
  1. Determine what group you are in here.
    1. Ms. Cunkelman: Scheduling and Logistics, Welcoming, Translator Team
    2. Ms. Nickel: Student Leaders, Public Relations, College Planning Pros
    3. Mrs. Testa: Babysitters, Decorations and Hospitality
  2. In your group choose a secretary to make a copy and share the document below. Read through your tasks.
    1. Babysitters
    2. Decoration and Hospitality Committee
    3. Welcoming Committee
    4. Translator Team
    5. College Planning Pros
    6. Public Relations and Advertising Committee
    7. Scheduling and Logistics Committee
    8. Student Lead Presenters (Make your own document for each room and link it to your room's title in the document here!)
  3. Create a list of who will do what each day in your document. This will be shared between 1st and 4th block. BE SURE TO ALWAYS MARK THINGS OFF WHEN FINISHED. 
  4. Work through your tasks listed in the document above.
  5. If you finish early, make sure you are revising and organizing your work for all classes!
4) Success Workshop: Plan, Revise, and Organize
  1. Revise your notes:
    1. Highlight key terms.
    2. Write HOT questions.
    3. Add summaries.
  2. Organize your binders.
5) Exit Ticket: Rank your success at meeting your SMART goal from 1 (missed it...) to 4 (did more!). Write a SMART goal for this week (it is a benchmark week).
