How can I design the best study system for myself? (Day 2) Daily Plans: Tuesday, 29 September

Essential Question: How can I design the best study system for myself?
Objectives: I can...
...identify the types of careers I am currently interested in exploring.
...manipulate spreadsheets.
...create a study tool.
...check and respond to emails.

1) Warm Up: Career Research

  1. Set up Cornell notes for today.
  2. Go to CFNC.org > Plan > For A Career.
  3. Find where it says "Your Portfolio" on the lower right hand sidebar.
  4. Click "Career Planning Index Page" > "Career Plans".
  5. Locate "Saved Careers". Under that, click "Try the Career Finder".
  6. On the left sidebar find "Career Facts" > "Career Clusters" and click that.
  7. Under career clusters, check off pathways that sound interesting to you.
  8. All the way at the end, select "See Your Matching Careers".
  9. Note: How many careers match for you?
  10. **These will save in your profile so you can look at them more in depth later. You can remove ones you don't like then.**

2) Literacy Block: Spreadsheets, Data, and Graphs OH MY!
  1. Work with a partner.
  2. Partner One opens and copies the spreadsheet herePartner Two just opens the spreadsheet.
  3. Go to the Data Analysis sheet at the bottom of the page.
  4. Follow the directions to create a chart.
  5. Partner Two should read, Partner One should add to the spreadsheet.
  6. Partner Two should make the chart.
    3) Lesson Plan: Create your Study Tool

    1. Before you Create:
      1. Take out your notes.
      2. *Star* information that you will use in your study tool.
    2. Create your Tool:
      1. Check the guidelines in the picture to the right.
      2. Gather materials you need.
      3. Create your study tool!
      4. This is due Thursday. You will have about 10 minutes in class tomorrow.

    4) Success Workshop: Organize and Communicate!

    1. Check and respond to emails.
    2. Organize your binder!
