How can I teach other people about my Career Cluster? Daily Plans: Wednesday, 6 May

Happy Wednesday AVID Career Explorers!

Big Idea: Systems
Essential Question: How can I teach other people about my Career Cluster?
Objectives: I can...
...write an introduction speech for our Career Cluster.
...evaluate my classmate's presentations.
...polish our presentation and activity.

1) Warm Up: Our Elevator Speech
  1. On your index card, write your group's "Elevator Speech". Include:
    1. The name of the career cluster
    2. Career examples
    3. Income
    4. A college
    5. How they can know if they'd be successful (skills)
    6. Why this cluster is important (issues)
  2. End your speech by writing "Do you have any questions?"...pause..."Now we'll try an hands-on activity!"
2) Practice Presentations and Time to Work:
  1. We will present in rounds to give each other feedback on presentations.
    1. Health/Human Sciences present to Education and Training
    2. STEM present to Arts, etc
  2. As an audience member, list a plus and delta for the group presenting.
  3. Share these after the presentation.
  4. Switch presenting groups.
  5. Make suggested revisions.
  6. Done and bought a yearbook? Head to the gym at 2:10. Not done? Keep working until you finish.
