...explain concepts to students with different learning preferences.
...organize into groups where everyone's strengths get used.
****************************
1) Warm Up:
- List upcoming assignments.
- Set a SMART goal for this week.
2) Literacy Block: Analyzing Learning Styles and College Performance
- First Graph:
- List the learning preferences from best to worst score.
- Is anything surprising when you see the scores for the Lecture and Lab portions? Any results that you didn't expect?
- Second Graph:
- List the learning preferences from most to least prevalent.
- Combined:
- Knowing which learning preferences are most common, how would you expect students with that learning preference to perform? Is this accurate? Cite an example from the graphs.

- Write your name on a card in the color that corresponds to your highest preference learning style.
- You'll be sorted into groups to play VARK Telephone:
- TIME EACH ROUND! List these.
- The Read/Write person gets a phrase.
- Act out the phrase to the Kinesthetic person.
- Kinesthetic person draws the phrase for the Visual person.
- The Visual person describes the phrase for the Auditory person.

- Were you correct?
- Debrief:
- Which rounds took the least time? Most time?
- Who might have the easiest time learning in school? Hardest?
- What can students do on their own to help with that?
- On an index card: Write a random number on your card. Describe your normal role in a group. Describe your ideal role in a group.
- In your notes: Relate your role to your learning preferences.
- List the characteristics of awesome groups and not awesome groups.
- Card scramble and group sort.
4) Success Workshop: Organize it!
- Is your binder organized?
- Are all Google Docs in folders?
- Is your TOC up to date?
- Do you know upcoming assignments? Are they in your phone or Google Calendar?
5) Exit Ticket: Do you live up to expectations of group members? Why or why not? What do you need to change?
