2) Lesson Plan Part 1: What is ACA 111? As told by students who took it (30 min)
- Before our guest speakers join us...
- Review the purpose of ACA 111 and how it is different than AVID.
- List questions you hope the guest speakers answer.
- Characterize what the class will look like and be doing if we effectively listen to our guest speakers and fail to listen.
- As our guest speakers talk, take notes and demonstrate TSLANT.
- After our guest speakers share, ask any remaining questions you have. Thank our speakers!
3) Lesson Plan Part 2: The Elusive Skill - Time Management (30 min)
- Part 1: How do you choose what to do first? (and other fun time management decisions)
- Cut out the cards and put them in order four different times based on the questions below:
- What order would you do the items in if your first priority was helping your friends?
- What order would you do the items in if your first priority was making an A in each class?
- What order would you do the items in if your first priority was helping your family?
- What order would you do the items in if your first priority was your version of success?
- Note: Which order was most similar to the order you do things in now?
- Discuss: What makes it easier and harder to choose when to do what?
- Part 2: Time Management Workshop Time (Choose One)
- Decorate your planner or a calendar print out using the materials on the back table.
- Explore organization apps using the links below:
- List the homework you need to do and the order you will do it in and get to work!
- Add upcoming due dates, family events, tests, quizzes, time with friends, de-stress time, exercise time, hobby time to your planner.
- Write a personal or academic SMART goal for the week at the top of this week on your planner.
