1) Warm Up: How do you study? (10 min)
- Create a comic strip or timeline showing how you study.
- Consider:
- When do you start studying?
- How long do you study for?
- Is there music on?
- What snacks and rewards do you have?
- Do you study with other people?
- Do you procrastinate? How?
2) Literacy Block/Review Time: The Best Ways to Study (50 min)
- Review the first page of the Curve of Forgetting.
- On the second page, in the corner, list 5 things from any class that confused you.
- On your Curve of Forgetting, list how you have reviewed those concepts so far.
- Example: Day one: You learned about slope. First Reminder: You drew different types of slopes, wrote equations, solved problems. Second Reminder: Your Math XL was due. Third Reminder: You had a benchmark.
- Today, we'll choose awesome "fourth reminders" that will help you remember and understand these concepts and excel on your exams!
- Skim through the study tips.
- Add on class favorites for each type of learner.
- Go back and add your fourth reminder methods.
- Watch the video on acing finals. Revisit your warm up. Compare the tips to what you do now.
- Illustrate how you will study during this 10 day review and exam period. Include 5 written tips.
- Create a study calendar using all of this information.
Active Recall vs Passive Review - Set a studying goal.
- Start studying!
3) Success Workshop: Bring up your grades! (25 min)
- If you have missing work or work to revise, FINISH AND REVISE!
