Objectives: I can…
...relate scientific and mathematic models to the concepts in school.
...describe how I am related to people and goals.
...organize my binder.
****************************
1) Warm Up:
  1. Respond to the prompt below in a half-page story.
  2. Then, list three things you look at to learn a lot about a person.

#777
“a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights”

2) Literacy Block: Chaos Theory Simplified: Just Follow the Bouncing Droplet
  1. Before you read:
    1. Watch the video below.
    2. Sketch and label a nonchaotic and chaotic system.
    3. Make a claim: Is chaos random? What do you need to know to determine where something will end up?
  2. As you partner read:
    1. Sketch the model of chaos theory.
    2. Define chaos theory.
  3. After you read:
    1. Explain the impact of chaos theory.
    2. Summarize chaos theory in your own words.
    3. In two point and example sentences, relate chaos theory to..:
      1. A Big Idea from any class
      2. The Essential Question: How can reflecting on where I come from get me to where I want to be?
        • Example: Chaos theory is related to the big idea of systems in math. Incorrectly writing an equation in a different format can totally mess up your ability to solve a system of equations.
3) Lesson Plan: Who am I in relation to...? Chalk Talk
  1. Overview of protocol
  2. Get a marker.
  3. SILENTLY circulate the room and add on to the different papers.
    1. You may add new comments or comment on other comments.
    2. Think of this like collaborative annotation.
    3. Contribute to every paper at least once.
    4. You can add on to different papers repeatedly.
  4. Debrief:
    1. At the two-minute warning, circulate the room one more time.
    2. On a sticky note, write a (HOT) question this chalk talk raises for you OR write down a point you'd like us to discuss.
    3. Add your sticky note to the board.
    4. I will give you a sticky note.
    5. Read your sticky note to the class to answer or discuss.
    6. On your own, respond to the following:
      • What is one relationship you struggle with? What would you like to change about this relationship?
      • from: http://mintingnickels.com/money-motivation-2-goals/
      • What is one relationship that lifts you up? What makes this relationship so great?
4) Success Workshop: Binder Organization
